2010 Race
The 2010 Run In the Country Half Marathon took place on July 18, 2010. The runners, walker and relay racers toed the line under cooler than normal temps, with overcast skies keeping the course cool and fast throughout the morning. The Run In the Country lived up to its name, with the course making its way through wheat and grass seed fields (some with harvest underway) and sheep, horses, cattle and various other livestock. Local Coburg resident Brad Chvatl successfully defended his 2009 win, with a 1:13:39 first place finish this year. 2nd place went to Seven Richmond of Albany who finished in 1:19 and Roy Haggerty of Corvallis was 3rd in 1:20. In the women's field, Anna Heintz of Eugene finished first in 1:32:46 followed by 2nd place Kristi Lablanc also of Eugene, in 1:33:45, with 3rd place going to Samone Brocket of Portland in 1:34:00. The Half Marathon Relay was won by the Three Musketeers, comprised of Paul Shelton, John Schildmeyer, and Jacob Shelton, in 1:33:13. Volunteers
We can always use more volunteers! To volunteer email us at racedirector@RunInTheCountry.com. A good rule of thumb: run five and volunteer for one.
We are grateful to our sponsors and the more than 50 volunteers who make this race possible. Special thanks to our primary sponsor, Eugene Physical Therapy.
Coburg Golden Years
The race is held in conjunction with Coburg Golden Years, a traditional small town celebration. More info on it can be found here: http://www.coburgoregon.org/home/cob/page_79_85/coburg_golden_years__july.html.
